Resonance Raman spectroscopy of nitric oxide reductase and [cbb.sub.3] heme-copper oxidase
Article Abstract:
Resonance Raman (RR) spectroscopy is used for examining the structure and properties of the binuclear heme [b.sub.3]-[Cu.sub.B] center of [cbb.sub.3] heme-copper oxidase from Pseudomonas stutzeri and the dinuclear heme [b.sub.3]-[Fe.sub.B] center of nitric oxide reductase (Nor) from Paracoccus denitrificans in the ligand-free and CO-bound forms. The studies have shown that in the Nor/NO reaction, the formation of the N-N bond has occurred with the His-Fe heme [b.sub.3] bond intact and reformation of the heme [b.sub.3]-O-[Fe.sub.B] dinuclear center has caused the rupture of the proximal His-Fe heme [b.sub.3] bond.

Nonequilibrium dynamics simulations of nitric oxide release: Comparative study of nitrophorin and myoglobin
Article Abstract:
The results from the molecular dynamics simulations of nitrophorin 4 (NP4) at pH 5 and pH 7, modeled by selective deprotonation of acidic groups reveal that release rate of diatomic molecules from heme proteins could be varied by several orders of magnitude through modest adjustments in geminate rebinding and gating behavior.
